The sections below highlight my experience in Computer Science - and it is forever growing! I have included relevant courses, my involvement in the CS community, and scholarships and awards I have received. Below this, I have links to all of my research and projects - my favorites are the Mercedes-Benz Vans project and my drone research.

Fall 2017

CSCI 332 - Database Concepts Semester Project

For this course, we worked on a project of our choice for the duration of the semester. Our only restrictions were that we needed to use a MySQL database hosted through SiteGround.com, learn SQL to query the database, and use PHP on the client side to make the calls.

I ended up developing a little application intended for children and their parents to form communities, communicate with each other via messages, play games, make profiles... Simple and kid-friendly.

Fall 2017

Linux Workshop

This was a fun 2.5 hour workshop I designed and led in order to help Sophomore and Junior students be better prepared for classes that would require them to understand how to set up and use Virtual Machines, the Linux OS, and the command line. This workshop was sponsored by our department ACM Club and had about 25 students in attendance! 

 

 

Summer 2017

Software Engineering Intern at Blackbaud - Charleston, SC

This summer, I was an intern at Blackbaud, a software company that develops products for non-profits, higher education, and healthcare organizations. I worked as part of a team developing new features for a mobile responsive web application called Fundraiser on the Go.

It was an amazing experience and I learned so much in one summer! The Blackbaud internship program also encourages us to go out and volunteer in our community, participate in the company-wide hackathon, and think about developing products that power social good.


Spring 2017

CSCI 462 Software Engineering Capstone Project: Mercedes-Benz Vans Plant Visualization Tool

This semester, I worked with 2 student partners to create a web application for Mercedes-Benz Vans using the agile software development method. Our team developed a "Dashboard" solution to monitor all of their IT devices on the production floor. If a device on the floor goes down, the Dashboard map reflects this and production managers are able to pinpoint the problematic device. This software has successfully been installed and is working in the local Mercedes-Benz Vans factory.

 

Fall 2016 - Summer 2017

Research: Implementing Intuitive Voice Control for Drones

I currently work as a Senior Research Assistant in the CS Department's Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) Robotics Lab. I am developing an app which will allow for easy, intuitive voice control of the DJI Phantom 4 drone using Nuance's speech recognition platform, regular expression matching, and the DJI iOS mobile SDK.

 

Fall 2016

CSCI 362 Software Engineering Term Project: Building a Testing Framework for Open Source Software

The 3-person team project for the semester involved closely investigating a Humanitarian Free Open Source Software (H/FOSS) by building a testing framework that could quickly detect faults in the code and display the results of the tests in a webpage table. Our team chose to work with Celestia, a 3D space exploration application.

Student Programmer: Medical University of South Carolina

In the College of Health Professionals at MUSC, I helped further research on stroke victims by writing programs in LabView which analyzed data collected on gait length and speed.

Research: Virtual Reality Game Design

For a summer research project for the Virtual Productions Lab at the College of Charleston, I was part of a group of 5 students who designed and implemented a kindergarten classroom Virtual Reality game in which the player's naughty or nice actions during gameplay have direct consequence on the possible outcomes of the game.
